Numena

This is a less heard, North Indian recipe. It’s a tasty option for veg lovers. Eat it with rice, bread or roti.  The quantity of chilies can vary as per your preference.
Ingredients:
1. 1Kg fresh or frozen green peas
2. ¼ Kg, potatoes
3. Few bay leaves
4. 2 green cardamoms
5. 1/2 tsp, asafetida (heeng)
6. 1 tbsp, ginger, chopped
7. 5 green chilies, chopped
8. 1 tsp, turmeric
9. 2 tsp, red chili powder
10. 2 tsp, garam masala powder
11. Salt to taste
12. 1/2 cup curd, whipped smoothly
13. 2 tbsp, oil
14. 1 tsp, desi ghee
15. 1/4 cup, chopped coriander, for garnish
Method:

Boil the green peas until half done, then coarsely mash them. Boil the potatoes and peel them. Heat oil and ghee, add ingredients 3 to 7 and stir fry for a minute, then add mashed peas and ingredients 8 to 10. Cook and stir, until half done, add curd, stir vigorously and add boiled potato cubes. Keep stirring and cooking for another 2 minutes. Add 1 cup water and bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and cover. Cook for 5 more minutes and take off the pot from heat. Let stand for 5 minutes and serve garnished with chopped coriander.
